In Voltaire's Candide, wisdom is taught when Candide after pondering the trials and hardships of life concludes, "We must cultivate our garden." As children of a loving Father in Heaven, we have been blessed with our own gardens of life. The responsibility truly is ours, despite the storms of life, to care for, to nourish, and to improve upon and refine our lives by labor. The more we choose to actively put into our life (for good or ill), the more we will reap. The opposite is also true; the less we invest, the less we receive. It is the law of the harvest.
