Mission Call!
At about 7:30 the phone rang. It was Ben. "Go get Josh. I need to ask you both something. Put the phone on speaker." Soon Josh and I were on the phone and we hear, "Dear Elder Steven Benjamin Arnett, You are hear by called to serve...." Silly boy. He did not tell us he had put in his mission papers. I did not know that he was serious because he has done things like this before. But when we heard people cheering in the background, we knew it was for real.
He will be going to the Atlanta, Georgia North Mission, English speaking. He reports Wednesday April 21, which is also Dad's birthday. The family was already planning on coming up Utah as on the Friday the 23 & Saturday the 24 Joshua and I are graduating and walking. Perfect timing. I am so happy for him. Ben will be such a great missionary.

Technology
Technology truly has changed the way in which our world works and the way we interact with one another. I was reminded of this yesterday when I was setting up phone calls between to professionals, one a therapist and the other an educational consultant. I could not get a hold of the consultant, till the therapist said, "why don't you text him?" I couldn't believe it! I feel strange enough setting up phone calls through emails (I'm getting more use to that) or even setting them up through instant messaging secretaries at offices we work lots with. Sure enough though, I text the consultant asking if we could arrange a time when Dr. so and so and he could talk, and he texted back saying yes and which number to use. So weird that is okay to be that informal. After all, who even uses who words and correct spelling when texting? Perhaps it is not informal, but seems that way because I and others don't tend to set up professional phone calls that way. Or maybe others really do set up their calls that way.

For Valentine's Day, Joshua & I skipped buying each other flowers or chocolates. Instead, we gifted each other an embossing set. I have never considered myself crafty or creative when it came to making things but here is what we made. I am very proud of myself and think the cards turned out great. Joshua is so creative too. The cards he made turned out great.

I made this one
Joshua made this one

I made - this is one of my favorites that I made

I made this one - I really like this one too
Joshua made this one. I love it.

Feb 12 - It's my birthday!
Happy birthday to me and to Abe Lincoln.
I am now 23 and he is now really old. We celebrated by going out to dinner the night before at Olive Garden in Salt Lake. We were up there as I had an interview with LDS Family Services. It's my dream to work for them or to have my masters internship be there. After Oliver Garden we came home and watched the BBC TV Robin Hood on Netflixs.
On my birthday, we went to the state high school swim meet being held at BYU. We visited with old friends who were still working as lifeguards there. Then we went to Jason's Deli (I got a gift card from mom and dad) which was so good! They have a lot of organic things and vegetables. Then we went and walked around the mall. The place I love to go for haircuts is there. They also offer free bang trims so I got my bangs trimmed for free - we like to have really expensive nights out.
While at the mall, we went into a scrapbooking supply store. I am no good with scrapbooking or card making but it is something I want to learn to do; card making especially. We learned they offer free classes. I am so excited to learn.
After our walk around the mall, we went home to cuddle up in bed and watch more Robin Hood. Come 10 PM, we were ready to go to bed. Aren't we old? What a fun birthday.
